Necessitas 0.3.1, or the “don’t complie with jdk 1.5 release”, is available.

Eclipse, Necessitas Add comments

0.3.1 is a minor update that corrects a problem with the embedded ivy library (for some reason it had a jdk 1.5 class file, probably my fault). The plugin also packages jakarta commons httpclient rather than relying on the default URL handler in the JRE.

There were reports of problems using the update site for 0.3.0 (it didn’t seem to replace the old version properly). I’ve upgraded a couple of machines from 0.3.0 to 0.3.1 and they’ve both picked up the new version correctly. If anyone does have a problem please let me know.

Umm, I’m not sure how I should give you feed back, so I’ll do it here.

I’m trying to used Necessitas with Ivy and when I ask it to refresh the list of dependancies it doesn’t seem to pick up any dependancies that have an org set.

Other than this issue Necessitas rocks. Keep up the good work.

Do the org references resolve in plain ivy? If so can you share your config with me?

Does Necessitas work in a multiple project environment? I am using Eclipse 3.1.0 (build id I20050527-1300) with Necessitas 0.3.1. It is a big improvement over previous versions but I’m struggling to get it to work with our possible unique development environment.

    workspace/config/ivyconf.xml
    workspace/Utility/ivy.xml
    workspace/UtilityDB/ivy.xml

UtilityDB depends upon Utility. Each project finding its third party jar dependencies from its ivy.xml file. I can not figure out how to setup UtilityDB to inherit Utility third party jars using Necessitas/Ivy.

Do I have to define the project dependency using Eclipse or can I use the ivy.xml file? How is the ivyconf.xml file found or is it since it is not in either Utility or UtilityDB root directory.

I can bundle up the above code and send it to you.

    Thanks.

Right now you would need a copy of your ivyconfig in each of the projects. I’ll take a look and see if I can allow “shared project configs” for the next version.

    -k.
